Elbow probably don't need much of an introduction to most. They seem to have ballooned in popularity after winning last year's Mercury Music Prize. Since then they've soundtracked the BBC's coverage of the Beijing Olympics, and recently played with The Hallé orchestra as part of the Manchester International Festival.
Similarly to I Am Kloot, a band who lead singer Guy Garvey has produced, they seemed to go relatively unnoticed for years, releasing three great records before The Seldom Seen Kid, all meeting positive reviews yet earning smaller commercial success. This track is from their debut EP, released in 1998 through Ugly Man Records. It's still one of my favourites of theirs. Garvey's a legend, and they're now rightly starting to get the acclaim of being one of Manchester's greatest bands.
