Doves, all Blues if i'm not mistaken, formed after meeting in the Hacienda in the late eighties, firstly as Sub Sub, having a hit in 1993 with cheesy dancefloor anthem 'Ain't No Love (Ain't No Use)'. After drastically changing their sound they released three EP's on a subsidiary of the late Rob Gretton's 'Rob's Records' around the turn of the decade, all warmly received. Their debut album Lost Souls followed a year later and was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize.
A second record, The Last Broadcast, released two years later and was also nominated for a Mercury. 2005's Some Cities remains perhaps their most recognised work, containing anthems such as 'Black and White Town' and 'Snowden'. Their fourth LP, this year's Kingdom of Rust again received plenty of acclaim. Some of you may've seen them play at the stadium earlier this year as part of the launch for this season's kits. They also performed at Maine Road after it hosted out final ever game there five years ago. Great band.
This track's a b-side of the 2002 'Pounding' single.
